Pita chips made with whole wheat or multi-grain pita bread is a high fiber alternative to potato chips with up to 30% less calories per 1-ounce serving.
Serve pita chips with hummus or a variety of dips.
- 4 low calorie, whole wheat pita or pocket flat bread about 6-inch diameter
- Vegetable cooking spray
Method of Preparation
Position oven rack in the middle of the oven and preheat to 350°F (175°C).
Use kitchen scissors to remove the edges to give two thin sections. Stack as many sections as you are comfortable handling and use a chef's knife to cut into 8 sections.
Place the chips on 1 or 2 large baking sheets and lightly spray with cooking spray. Turn over and lightly spray the other side.
Bake about 6 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove the sheets from the oven, turn over the chips and bake another 6 minutes or until lightly browned and crisp.
Enjoy with your favorite dip or homemade hummus.
