Hearty Guacamole is a simple recipe of diced tomato, onion, cilantro, lime juice, and seasoning you can be served as a dip for tortilla or pita chips, with your favorite Mexican foods, or as a condiment for broiled or pan fried fish.
Although high in calories do to the avocados fat content, guacamole is a good source of heart healthy monounsaturated fat.

Ingredients
- 2 to 3 ripe Haas avocados
- 1 (100 g) Roma tomato, diced
- 1/4 cup (50 g) yellow or red onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup (8 g) fresh cilantro, coarsely minced
- 2 to 3 tablespoons (30 - 45 ml) fresh lime juice
- Kosher salt to taste
- Fresh ground black pepper to taste

Step 2
In a medium bowl place the flesh of the avocados. Use the back of a wood spoon to mash to desired consistency. Leave some chucks for texture.
Step 3
Add tomato, onion, cilantro and lime juice. Stir to combine. Season to taste.
Step 4
Serve or cover with plastic wrap in contact with the surface and refrigerate up to 2 hours.
Step 5
Cook's Tip: To prevent surface discoloration, make guacamole 1 to 2 hours prior to serving. Discoloration is cometic. If guacamole discolors, use a spoon to scrape off the discolored part prior to serving.
