Recent supermarket adds promote fresh, healthy, farm raised Atlantic salmon. Prices range from $4.99 to $8.99 per pound. Hardly a week goes by that some store or supermarket doesn’t have a special or promotes salmon especially Atlantic salmon.
The ads don’t tell consumers about the concerns over Atlantic salmon; its numbers are declining, it can be high in PCBs, and food coloring is added to give it the rich red color. Two out of four adds one week mentioned coloring was added even though all four have photos of bright, red fish fillets.
